As a licensed school psychologist, a certified parent coach, and a mom of three, I know first-hand how hard and rewarding raising kids can be. My work with parents is grounded in my belief that children and parents want to do their best and that any parent’s deepest desire is to raise healthy kids. My extensive training enables me to support you in your efforts to learn proven parenting approaches tailored to your and your family’s unique strengths.

I believe that showing parents how to leverage their strengths can lead to more effective parenting and bring back joy to stressed families. While my background as a school psychologist and my continuing education in the field of positive parenting provide me with expertise in many areas, you are the expert on your child. Within the coaching relationship, we will work as a team to uncover your authentic parenting style and strengths, resulting in durable practices that work for you and your family.

We all go through some type of challenge while raising kids. The good news is you are not alone! Always working with the end dream in mind, you will leave our coaching session with clarity of your goals, a renewed sense of purpose and hope, and an action plan to move you closer to the parent you want to be. If you have come this far, you probably know that a “quick fix” or instant solution rarely works in parenting humans. In our coaching sessions we will get to the heart of the matter resulting in positive changes in your relationship with your child.

Though sustainable change can take time, most of my clients feel a positive shift as soon as the very first session. My coaching services include couples and individual parent sessions as well as group coaching and parenting classes. My practice works with parents with children birth-young adult and includes (but is not limited to):

  • Challenging Behavior
  • Emotional Regulation
  • Navigating school systems and mental health systems
  • Special Education, IEP process, 504 services
  • Giftedness, 2E, Neurodiversity
  • Social-Emotional skill development
  • Trauma Informed Practices
  • Improved Communication
  • Collaborative Problem Solving™
  • Self-Care and Self-Compassion for calmer responses

What Parents Say After Coaching With Me

…I had all the head knowledge because I had attended parenting classes, listened to parenting books, all the things, but I struggled to put it into practice with my own twice exceptional kiddos. I knew what I wanted to do; I knew why I wanted to do it; I just couldn’t actually do it. Denise helped me identify that my own regulation was the single most important area for me to focus, and she showed me that doing very small (seemingly inconsequential) things throughout the day would give my own nervous system a break. Given my bias for action, she didn’t give me more things to do, she helped me be intentional about slowing down. It has really helped. […] I’ve done therapy myself and we have both kiddos with therapists, and I find that Denise’s coaching is a good complement to that work. I highly recommend Denise for any parent or guardian looking to be a better version of themselves.

[With Denise] I was invited to take time to learn the ‘why.’ Denise took me on a journey of my own strengths as a person. There was no-talk of what is wrong with me, only what is right and lovely. It is a humbling and vulnerable process to talk about what's right instead of what's wrong. For the first time in a very long time ‘I was seen.’ […] Self-blame was replaced with grace and appreciation for my own gifts as a person. And when this happened I could more clearly see what the needs were of my own children were. As this transformation evolved over a few months of work with Denise-my own children shifted. Joy came to live in more authentic moments-and big angry feelings shifted. I could respond to their needs as I took time to respond to my needs with my strengths. […] I highly recommend Denise-she will help your family find grace. And discover your super powers, so you can see for yourself, that you always have had this special gift all along.
