Parenting is HARD

…and we can all use some help along the way.

My name is Dr. Courtenay Wallpe and I have spent the last three decades helping people positively shift within their families, schools, and community organizations. As a mom of two amazing, yet also challenging boys, I have been there—wondering what I could be doing differently in order to make things better. While there are thousands of parenting books out there, it can be hard to implement what you read because the recommendations aren’t specific to your child and there isn’t any regular accountability to help you stay on track. Parent Coaching with me offers both.

Together, in a respectful, equal partnership, we will co-construct plans that draw upon your unique strengths and skills to address concerns or issues that you and your family are facing. When appropriate, I will provide resources and information on child and adolescent development and best practices, but you are the expert on your child. Your wisdom and experience will be our guide as we move towards resolution of your challenges.

The process of working with me will be filled with laughter, joy, compassion, creativity, and authentic connection. I believe that we can only make progress in life if we are able to look at ourselves honestly, laugh about our common humanity and lean into each other to find the courage to try something new. I care deeply about each of my clients, relating to their struggles and celebrating their victories. I know all too well how awful it feels when you think you are failing as a parent and how wonderful it feels when there is hope for something better.

What Parents Say After Coaching With Me

Our family has worked with a lot of coaches, behaviorists, experts of all kinds through the years, and I have to say that Courtenay is the best. She was able to provide tangible and effective tools very quickly, which was what made my time with her so valuable to me. Courtenay provided a very clear outline of her process from the start and I found each session, as well as weekly practices, extremely worthwhile. She was quick to “get it” when I explained a parenting challenge, and then she was quick to dive right in to talking about approaches to consider. I always walked away with something specific I could think about and try between sessions, which is such an effective way to see real change real quickly. And, the ideas worked! Courtenay helped me see things in a new way, which allowed for real shifts in how I parent and how I work with my husband to parent together. I felt very safe opening up to Courtenay about our family challenges, and I found her to be extremely supportive, knowledgeable, and effective. She really knows her stuff, and she helped me make real change. I especially loved that she sends a summary of each session afterward, so I now have notes that I reference when I need them. All that said, I highly recommend Courtenay. The time you put in to work with her will pay off right away and make lasting change.

Coaching with Courtenay was a gift to me and to my family. She is an authentic, non-judgmental listener who reflects back helpful and loving insights. She listened to my goals and helped me break down the steps to achieve them. I really appreciated receiving a written review after each meeting, which included not only an encouraging summary, but a manageable to-do list. I am certain I was able to move more quickly towards my dreams because of the accountability I felt throughout the coaching process.
