Homework Headaches, Screen-time Struggles, Bedtime Blues?

Can you relate to any of the above, or perhaps you are struggling to keep lines of communication open with a suddenly distant teen? Maybe you are at your wit’s end because you can’t get your kids to help around the house and you are feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. Whatever your issue, you are certainly not alone in what you are experiencing. Parenting can be the most amazing and rewarding experience, but there is no doubt it comes with its inevitable challenges. There is no shortage of information between the thousands of books and magazine articles, not to mention the black hole of the internet, however, finding answers can sometimes just lead to more feelings of guilt, helplessness, and loss of hope. It’s an almost impossible task to sift through it all to find the right advice or strategy that will work for your particular circumstance.

Don’t go it alone!

As your parent coach, I will work with you to help you discover the amazing gifts and strengths that are already existent in your family. From there, we will dream big, building on these strengths and using them to begin an incredible transformation that will ultimately provide you with the confidence, skills, and hope to create the reality you want. Each session, we will discuss what is working and brainstorm to find solutions and strategies to change what may not be going as well. Parent coaching is a collaborative process and I take great joy in being there week after week for my clients, celebrating their successes right alongside of them.

How Did I Get Here?

My background is in education. I earned my B.S. in Education from Penn State and went on to get my M.S. in education from Johns Hopkins. I taught for several years before stepping away from the profession to raise my 3 incredible sons. My own parenting journey was far from smooth, and I became passionate about finding out as much as I could about child rearing. I read the books, participated in the programs, searched the Internet, but still struggled greatly. I desperately wanted to find a better way and when I came across the PCI’s Parent Coach Certification® Training Program, I knew this was the path I was meant to take. There is no greater sense of satisfaction then helping a family go from being despondent and hopeless at the beginning of coaching to confident and joyful in just a few short weeks. Your first call is on me and risk-free. We will spend about ½ hour learning a bit more about one another and determining if we are a good fit. I can’t wait to hear from you!

What Parents Say After Coaching With Me

I have found my time spent with Cindy Shuster to be transformative. Talking with her has changed the way I think, prepare, and act in my parenting now. Our weekly sessions have transformed how I view my children and their needs alongside how I view myself and my needs as a parent and as a person. During these sessions, she guided me toward being a parent whose focus is on developing intrinsically motivated and empowered kids. Her ability to listen to specific situations and coach me through them reinforced this. Her coaching sessions were more than conversations. They were structured with a ‘check-in’ which included what we had agreed to work on that past week. This was followed by in-depth talks on what was successful or less successful for that week and occasional referencing of professional parenting authors, podcasts and their ideas. We would end each session with what to continue working on for the next week, with Cindy often stating encouraging reminders of “you are already doing this!” and “you can see how this is working for all of you!” Her ability to listen and her insights in parenting and self-care have transformed this journey of life with my kids from one of frustration and hopelessness to one of empowerment and growth.
