Parenting is the most important job you’ll ever have. I can help you gain the confidence to PARENT WELL...every day!

I am an adoptive parent of three fabulous young adults ages 24, 25, and 29 who have been my teachers and my inspiration. I have worked in alcohol and drug prevention, mental health advocacy and prevention, and family planning. I have been a university health educator, an executive director of two non-profit organizations, and a consultant for a large corporation.

In 2003 I was one of the first to graduate from the Parent Coaching Institute as a PCI Certified Parent Coach®. I was a founding partner and Parent Coach with Sound Parent, a collective of four PCI Certified Parent Coaches for five years.

My coaching practice blends my experience as a parent with my expertise as a masters-level community health educator to help parents bridge the gap between what they are told will work and what really does work for their family. I have had personal experience with ADHD, adolescent depression, Dyslexia and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). I understand fully what it means to be a parent in chaos.

I am a founding member of the Bainbridge Coalition for Youth and Parents and Imagine Bainbridge, two organizations that promoted a positive environment and relevant opportunities for teens. I co-founded the Mama Llamas, a supportive network for parents of tweens and teens.

In addition to my private practice I am co-owner of Life's a Poodle, a grassroots organization promoting the success and dignity of children who learn differently.

I work with individual parents and couples in the following areas:

  • Adoption
  • Advocating for a child with learning differences such as Dyslexia, ADHD, or Autism Spectrum
  • Co-parenting discrepancies
  • Setting appropriate boundaries for all ages
  • Setting appropriate screen time boundaries (computer, video games, tablets)
  • Teens transitioning home after wilderness or a boarding school placement
  • Social networking guidelines (e.g. texting, Facebook, or Twitter for example)

I am available to meet with parents in person or by phone.

What Parents Say After Coaching With Me

You started me on a course of improving my parenting—research and practice. I have learned a great deal about how to build a better relationship with my son and how to manage myself and my fears. Life with my son is much better now than it was when we met. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, compassion and endless resources.

I am so grateful to have found you and to have received your guidance, support and resources on additional information on parenting. I still have a lot to learn and work on; however with the new information you’ve given me, I am much more confident that I will do a much better job of raising my daughter to help her to be all that she can be.
