Hi-I’m Sharon Mischio, founder of Parent Partner Coaching. I know from my own experience that parenting is incredibly rewarding, challenging, and humbling all at once. It certainly isn’t how it appears on a curated Instagram site! I started Parent Partner Coaching so that I could be a trusted listening partner—someone who could help parents feel less anxious and more empowered in their parenting.

What can you expect from me as a coach?

A non-judgmental listening ear, and lots of humor. Every family is unique! That’s why there is no such thing as one size fits all parenting advice, whether it’s from books, grandparents, the internet, or friends.

As your coach, I will work alongside you to help you understand your family dynamic and your parenting style. We will discover your strengths and how to leverage them. And, as a seasoned mom, teacher, nanny, and PCI Certified Parent Coach, I can also offer resources and strategies that will help you manage your current reality. Together we can work through just about any issue you may be having as a parent, such as:

  • Feeling overwhelmed/exhausted
  • Helping kids when they are dysregulated/tantruming
  • Helping you when your kids are dysregulated/tantruming
  • Setting boundaries
  • Screen time
  • Sibling rivalry
  • Nutrition
  • Self care
  • Time management

With parent coaching it is possible to gain knowledge and skills to help yourself parent through these and so many other issues. Together we can devise small changes you can make in your daily life that prioritize more of what you want for yourself and your family.

Here’s more info on my journey

I have a degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and have spent over 30 years working with families, parents, and children. I’ve taught first and fourth grades, worked as a nanny, a teacher/editor at a teen newspaper, and as a community childcare coordinator. I also hold a PCI Parent Coaching Certification, which is a rigorous Master’s level program from the Parent Coaching Institute.

Most importantly, I am a parent to two grown kids. It is the best and by far the most difficult job I’ve ever had. I stayed at home with our kids, worked part-time jobs, and also worked full-time outside (and inside) the home. I understand the challenges of each of these situations. And I understand the constant worry, second guessing, lack of sleep…and so much more.

During COVID I was a nanny for a child of two first responders. It gave me an inside perspective on the immense impact the pandemic had on children, parents, and teachers. I also was in constant contact with my young-adult children, worrying for their safety and mental health. In many ways, COVID made the already complicated job of parenting even more complicated.

Raising our kids is hard—and it doesn’t come with instructions. That’s where parent coaching can help. We will think together, as equal partners. You bring the important information and insights from you and your family. I bring years of experience in child development, teaching, and coaching, along with a non-judgemental listening ear. I will help you to understand both your strengths and what’s not working currently and how you can take small steps to create an ideal future for you and your family.

I feel extremely lucky to be able to do this work, and to see the positive changes in parents and families, my own family included. I would be honored to help you discover your best life as a person and as a parent.

What Parents Say After Coaching With Me

Sharon gave me the tools to reason through my reactions to my kids from their praise, kisses, tantrums, and outbursts all the same. I've learned how to speak to them so we can understand each other, and really gained the ability to enjoy their presence more!! I've learned how to enjoy these precious years with my kids and really see the joy in it despite the challenges. She helps me really SEE them and understand their needs. She has also taught me to have grace when analyzing my own self as a parent. She provides concrete actionable examples that I can incorporate every day and it has made a world of difference for me...parenting is tough! But after our conversations I feel like ’I got this.’

Sharon used her warmth, compassion, and wisdom to gently guide me through a time of transition for our family. She created a nurturing space that allowed me to feel open and vulnerable and collaborated with me to discover strategies to address my parenting challenges. Not only did I learn how to parent more effectively but also how to be kinder to myself and find and recognize my own wins. Sharon is an empathetic listener, a caring soul, and an amazing resource who you definitely want on your parenting journey.
